New DIY X-Benches

I've spent the last year or so (seriously, an entire YEAR) looking for 2 X-style benches/stools for the foot of my bed. Something like this-

via
IF I found one, they were usually more thank what I was willing to pay (like $200 a pop) :(
I did find a few at Home Goods for $79.99 but never found a matching pair. Boo.

As I continued my quest online, I came across this blog post. Caitlin Creer found a great deal on x-benches online. Look how cute they are...

They were just $50!!! However, this is what they actually looked like to begin with-
Yikes! The faux-suede leopard fabric was NOT the look I was going for. Caitlin Creer had ordered two of these and simply covered over the cheetah with her own fabric. Genius!
I decided to try it out for myself. Click HERE if you are interested in ordering these from KMART.com. They are priced at $49.99 each, but I did a quick Google search and found a coupon for $10 off / $50 purchase, plus free shipping to the store. So, I paid $45 each and was able to pick them up 3 days after ordering online.
I then picked up 1.5 yards of the same chenille fabric that I used for my DIY headboard. 1.5 yards was enough to cover both cushions BARELY. I would advise getting 2 yards, just to be safe.
There are just a few pieces to put together. Be sure to cover the seat with the new fabric before you screw in the legs.
We simply placed the new fabric over the leopard seat and used a staple gun to attach it.

*My boyfriend was sweet enough to put these together for me:)

Viola, new benches!

Here they both are at the foot of the bed-

Please excuse the wrinkly sheets and lazy dog.

For less than half the price of what most x-benches are, I think they look great. I am so happy with how they look, although I may add nailhead trim to match my headboard. Jury's still out on that.

And just for fun, here are my two boys trying them out-

love, S

A Limousine Version Toyota Prius

This is unreal and personally I can't really believe this. Toyota never produce a Limo version for their Toyota Prius but a dealer from Singapore has successfully "stretch" the Toyota Prius hybrid car to a longer version aka Limousine version.
I am not a photoshop expert but based on the pictures, this is not edited by photoshop. Anyway there is still a doubt of stretching the Toyota Prius, will this affect the entire structure of the car? I will leave this to you to judge about it. The picture below shows a standard version of the Prius which is the best-selling hybrid model in the world, with over a million sold since the model line was launched in 1997. Continue to read more for more pictures of this Limousine version Toyota Prius.

New Lexus LFA Special coming to Tokyo Show

Lexus will launch a Tokyo Motor Show Edition of its LFA supercar at its home motor show in autumn. This edition of the LFA, the second after the Nürburgring special, will sport an unpainted carbon roof and rear spoiler and will cost around ?40,000 (US$54,500) more than the ?normal? production model.
Coming a little down to earth, Toyota is readying a successor to the Supra coupe of the ?90s. Although the company has officially denied such a project even exists, the same sources insist that an unsanctioned RWD sports car is currently under development. Toyota, which has abandoned the sports car segment for quite some time to focus on hybrids, is also said to be working on a front-wheel drive performance car that is expected to be a GTI-rivaling version of the CT200h hatchback.

Clean, Sweet, and Bubbly, SodaSynth in Unexpected
Places Like Chrome Browser Native Client

SodaSynth runs natively in Chrome. With soft synths a dime a dozen, how do you set yourself apart? Defying conventions is a pretty good start, and a team of developers who built the Mixxx open source DJ tool are doing just that. SodaSynth from Oscillicious is a soft synth with a different approach. With no … Continue →

Meanest kitchen utility on the block

Materials: Grunka skimmer

Description: I normally object to using kitchen utensils on motorbikes as they don't blend in all that well.

But I had been looking for a nice heatshields for my hot pipes for some times (hard to find items) when I stumbled upon this Grunka for cooking fish. Size and drilled holes were perfect. Quality of stainless steel seemed good.

After some grinding and treatment the pieces were powder coated black and looked just fantastic.

I don't think anyone will ever think of using theese to pick up cooked fish.
