Prepare with the Best Remodeling Tips

Springtime and income tax returns mean many things, but one of them is this - this is typically when home remodeling and repair begin to spike. And whether you do it yourself or hire a contractor or handyman, forewarned is forearmed. You need a plan.

Even if you will be doing the work yourself, you'll need a licensed tradesman for some tasks. When? Many electrical tasks need one. The same for plumbing and HVAC. Other than that it really depends on your local building code, so just be sure to check.

Finding a reliable contractor that does quality work and finishes on schedule is extremely important on renovation projects. Not only will you be ponying up a lot of cash, you'll have to live with the results.

The BBB can provide some good data, and you can spend a lot of time checking references, doing background checks, verifying licenses and insurance and bonding, or you can check out Angie?s List - to find thousands of unbiased ratings and reviews on service companies in your area, join Angie?s List today. It sure beats playing "Yellow Pages Roulette".

Your remodeling project will take a lot of planning and forethought to be pain free. Guilty as charged here; I'm embarrassed to tell you how many times I've gone back to Home Depot for something I forgot. Ooops!

I've developed a checklist for success that I've developed over the years as a contractor. To read it, check out the article I posted yesterday, The Best Remodeling Tips Revealed. There's a lot of info so I invite you to print it out for reference.

Here is more about Janna Greg & Cutting Edge Stencils:

Cutting Edge Stencils is not only the name of our business, but a reflection of our approach to stenciling.

Stenciling can be more than just a simple ribbon or ducks. It?s a versatile form of artistic expression where anyone can achieve a great result! We sell a wide range of stencils, from our ?Wall Art? line that brings a dramatic effect to any space to our more traditional stencils and our kits for the professional decorative artist. There?s sure to be something for everyone! Our stencils are very durable, reusable, and easy to clean. Our website offers tips and tricks in the ?How To? section so anyone can jump right into the fun! My favorite part of the business is definitely the design aspect. It?s so exciting to take what inspires me and turn it into a tool that I can share with others.

Greg and I live in Northern New Jersey and from there we run both Cutting Edge Stencils (http://www.cuttingedgestencils.com) and Spec Fin Designs. (http://www.specfindesigns.com). Spec Fin is our decorative art (faux finishes) business that Greg started nearly 25 years ago.

After moving to America from Russia, I ran my own decorative art business before joining forces with Greg. My Masters degree in Zoology and Botany and my love for plants and gardening helps me to design accurate animal and plant stencils. I also have a love for pattern and ornament and have studied both graphic design and fine art.

We run Cutting Edge Stencils from our home, and all of our stencils are made by us personally to the highest standards possible.

We want DIY decorators out there to fall in love with stenciling. It?s such an easy and rewarding technique, as well as being a fast and inexpensive means of decorating. And of course, there is that gratifying feeling when you lift the stencil and admire your hand-painted artwork!

We strive to produce the best stencils we can, and we?re always coming up with new designs and ideas to share with our customers.

Here are some of my favorites:

Aren't they beautiful? I love this too, repeating a damask pattern on a wall:

Gorgeous!

I had so much fun doing the painted rug/floor stencil!
Practice makes perfect so I'll be doing more stenciling soon too!

GOOD LUCK!
