There are a number of great soldering tutorials already available via the internet in the form of videos and webpages and today I came across another great soldering guide - this one packaged in a comic book format (see below for PDF download link).
The great new seven page comic book guide about how to solder has been put together by Mitch Altman (Cornfield Electronics) , Andie Nordgren and Jeff Keyzer (Mighty Ohm). The comic book guide is based on the popular one-page soldering guide below that Andie and Mitch made last year. (Click image to enlarge)
The Soldering Is Easy comic book guide is easy to follow and informative. The guide is published under a Creative Commons License and the link to the PDF version of the soldering guide is below.

I had several requests about making my previous birthday chubby cake into a zazzle design, so I've designed away! I have to admit I've really fallen in love with it! I've changed the words and added "Sweet Cakes" on many of the items, but most all of them can be customized with your own desired wording. Click the link HERE to see all the various products I have to offer.
If you don't see one I have send me a request to otm@outsidethemargins.com

I't been an exciting couple days!! I found out one of my projects will be published in the November issue of .............. Darn that blogger, it's always messing up, anyway, it will be on news stands the end of October. Now I have to...........
Here's the scoop, a friend called me from a garage sale and said there is some cute little chairs here, the lady says they are 100 year old choir chairs. She wants $10.00. I said offer her $8.00, she accepted, and I was the proud owner of this chair
I am glad I did not buy a bunch because it was pretty ordinary. Then I picked up this metal tool box for .50 at an estate sale.
I did the same "Treatment" to both items and it turned out really neat
So, on a whim I photographed them and emailed it to a magazine.
The email came back from the editor "Yes, we would love to publish this" (it also said "You are as sweet as you are talented", but I didn't want you to vomit on your computer!)
Then she continued"We have an opening for our November issue, will that work for you ?"
After I revived myself, I wrote back YES,YES,YES!!!
I now I have to get busy, because she also added that I should incorporate a Christmas theme
So, tomorrow I will be off to my antique store and Jo-Annes to find props.
Magazines start so far ahead, it is hard to think Christmas in April.
Now, I need to incorporate this wood into the photo shoot, I'll get to that in the next post
For now I am just going to see if I can

Add to myYahoo! The Hungarian algorithm allows a "minimum matching" to be found. This can be used in instances where there are multiple quotes for a group of activities and each activity must be done by a different person, to find the minimum cost to complete all of the activities.

Meet: Kat from Maple Leaves & Sycamore Trees. In her search for the perfect ottoman, she REALLY applies thinking outside of the box. I love her genius solution. She took this table...
Cut the legs...
Worked some spray paint magic...
Recycled some foam...
Upholstered the top, added nail head trim and tufting...
TA-DA...all of their creativity and hard work paid off. Wow!See the the full HOW-TO tutorial at Completed Ottoman.
And more of Kat's creativity at
Maple Leaves & Sycamore Trees
Thank you Kat (and Mitch) for sharing your amazing transformation! So clever and GORGEOUS! (Thanks too for the recent post with MORE pantry eye candy including some I haven't seen before. Just the motivation we need to add to our "pantry files"!) I also can't wait to see the progression of your garage turned master suite! LOVE the doors! :)

Materials: MOSJO TV Stand, piece of wood cut to fit the top of the stand, spray adhesive, batting, carpenter glue and canvas material from IKEA.
Description:
I started with a MOSJO TV stand from IKEA. We are renovating our bedroom and no longer needed these for nightstands. I used a piece of wood cut to fit the top of the stand, spray adhesive, batting, carpenter glue and canvas material from IKEA.
I cut the batting to size and used the adhesive to stick the sheets together. I used 4 sheets but you can continue to layer them until you reach the softness you desire. I then cut the material adding an inch all the way around the bench pad.
Place the batting face down on the back of the material, place the wood on the top of the batting and pull the sides up tight. Use the staple gun to attach the fabric to the back of the bench pad.
Then I used wood glue to secure the pad to the bench and my husband placed 4 screws (one in each corner) for me to ensure that the pad and the stand wouldn't separate. I finished the look by adding two small baskets on the bottom shelf to keep hats, mitts and outdoor accessories in. Easy!!!
See more of the waiting bench.
